"Praise To The Man . . .

who communed with Jehovah. Jesus anointed that Prophet and Seer." So begins the Hymn revered by Mormons the world over. This year it takes on a special significance as The Church and world commemorate Brother Joseph’s 200th birthday.

The Church, is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Brother Joseph is the Prophet Joseph Smith, ordained by Christ Himself to open this last dispensation, some 175 years ago.

In September 1823, Brother Joseph was but an obscure, young, and uneducated farm boy, one of eleven siblings of Joseph Smith, Sr., and Lucy Mack Smith; however, on the evening of September 23, 1823, a resurrected being, Moroni, appeared to the boy Joseph prophesying that God had a great work for Joseph, and that within a short time, Brother Joseph’s name would be known the world over both for good and evil.

This was nothing short of remarkable given Brother Joseph’s stature at the time; however, in this day and age we see the prophecy having been literally fulfilled. (More to come . . .)
