Brian Head, UT

One of Southern Utah's striking destinations is Brian Head, located in the mountains east of Cedar City. While we were there, Brian Head hosted the NORBA ( National Off Road Bicycle Association) series race. There were mountain bikers everywhere.

In the winter Brian Head is Southern Utah's premier ski resort. In the summer, off road vehicles, both motorized and non invade the trials and ski slopes of the resort.

This shot gives a little better view of Brian Head village and the ski slopes in the background. Normally on a summer day, even on a weekend, the village is not this crowded; however, the NORBA folks really attracted a crowd this particular weekend.

Above is Brian Head peak, just above the main ski slope. Yep, that white stuff is the white stuff that blanketed Brian Head ski resort in record numbers this winter--which is probably why a few patches still remain in early August. The peak's elevation is 11,000 feet, which is another reason there are still some patches of snow left in August.
