Shakespeare in Cedar City II

If you haven't attended this Shakespearean Festival in southern Utah, you really need to go, if you are a Shakespearean afficionado. You can read a bit about its history here. The theater itself, ( above), is patterned after the original Globe Theater where The Bard's works were originally performed. This particular "Wooden O" sits on the campus of Southern Utah University, an incredibly picturesque four year university in Cedar City.

This year we saw Romeo and Juliet, the first time we have seen that production here in Cedar City. I found it much easier to follow than many of the previous Shakespeare plays we have attended--this was probably because I knew the story line better than most of the plays. I also found this true of Julius Ceasar, since we read and studied that in high school. Overall, an excellent production again this year. While there have been some plays we've seen over the last decade that are more difficult to follow and understand, the quality of the acting and overall production always has been excellent. I highly recommend attending and taking in the sights of Southern Utah, some of which I'll post later.
